The HSE has today published the full report conducted by former Chief Justice Frank Clarke into the tragic death of Shannon Teenager Aoife Johnston at University Hospital Limerick in December 2022. The independent investigation determined that sixteen year-old Aoife was sent to the wrong section of the Emergency Department and waited 13.5 hours before receiving treatment for suspect sepsis and that the circumstances surrounding her death were avoidable.

A man’s body has been found on the grounds of University Hospital Limerick. It’s understood a member of staff at the hospital found his remains overnight. A large car park and adjoining greenways have been sealed off by Gardaí. A post-mortem exam is due to be carried out – the results of which will determine the course of the Garda investigation.

Scariff could be without some of their key men for Saturday’s TUS Clare senior hurling quarter-final clash with Cratloe. All Ireland winner Mark Rodgers is in a race against time to be fit for the game as he recovers from a leg injury. Kealan Hartigan and Liam Crotty are also currently on the injured list as the East Clare men bid to reach the last four for the second year running. Manager Mark McKenna says they need to improve from their previous showings if they are to seal a semi final spot.

The latest report from GeoDirectory shows both Shannon and Kilrush are well above the national average when it comes to empty industrial buildings. The level of commercial vacancy in Clare continues to be marginally above the national average, clocking in at 15.7%.
