In the early 1980s Don Robert noticed something joyous happened when a group of adults with special needs interacted with his horses. Robert, a self-described horse guy who has been breaking in and riding horses for decades, lives on the outskirts of the city of Gonzales along Cornerview Road. Over the years, he would ride his horses, sometimes late at night, through the city. One day, he said, he stopped where a group of adults with special had gathered and let them pet his horse.

It's springtime in the Denham Springs Antique District and merchants and hundreds of vendors will celebrate April 26. The Denham Springs Spring Festival is set for April 26 in Denham Springs Antique Village. Hundreds of vendors, music, games, children's rides, food booths and antique shopping are planned for the day. In addition, tour the Old City Hall exhibits and listen to music at the Old Train Station.

Louisiana astronaut Hayley Arceneaux is coming back to the state to promote her new picture book "Astronaut Hayley's Brave Adventure!"She'll be signing and discussing her book at 2 p.m. April 5 at Cavalier House Books in Denham Springs. Arceneaux, who attended school in Baton Rouge and has roots in West Feliciana, is a physician assistant at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a career she committed to after surviving pediatric bone cancer.
