Nevada County authorities have identified the woman who went missing Saturday in the South Yuba River as the search continued Tuesday in what authorities called “extremely dangerous” conditions. Rebecca Heinowitz, 50, of Barrytown, N.Y., was last seen Saturday struggling while swimming in the Yuba River just upstream from the South Yuba Bridge, said the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office in a Tuesday news release.

A 21-year-old Lincoln man is facing arson and illegal fireworks charges connected to a windswept grass fire Saturday, Lincoln Fire Department officials announced Tuesday. The fire at East 8th Street and South Herald Avenue ignited just after 11:45 a.m., bringing Lincoln firefighters and police to the scene. The blaze, fueled by what were described as substantial winds, forced authorities to evacuate several homes as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
