ECORSE, Mich. (WXYZ) — After talking with people in Ecorse, it seems to be no secret that the city has long struggled with its finances. "None of us are, like, economic. We don't know where the issues are, what the problems are, but there's definitely some problems and there's been for a little while," Steve Bekri, owner of Riverside Coney Island, told 7 News Detroit. Homeowner Lillie Washington, who was born and raised in Ecorse, remains unbothered by the city's financial distress.

HARPER WOODS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Staff at Rhema International Church and Rhema Childcare Center said a man was fondling himself in the parking lot Wednesday at 8 a.m.Surveillance footage from the church, which is on the border of Harper Woods and Detroit, shows a man standing on the right side of his vehicle with both doors open. "And based upon what (staff) told me, because I wasn't here, the gentleman was pleasuring himself," Bishop Eric Lloyd told 7 News Detroit.

PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — The cost of raising a child is expensive and now, a new program is aiming to give expectant mothers and women with newborns in Pontiac access to thousands of dollars with "no strings attached."It's called Rx Kids. Parents in Flint and Kalamazoo have already been taking advantage of the program. In Pontiac, it's expected to help 800 mothers in just its first year. Araceli Blancas-Vargas and her husband are two months from welcoming another little one into the world.

According to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Edward Redding is charged with one count of felon in possession of a firearm.

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Several residents on Prevost Street on Detroit's west side continue to deal with flooding from this week's heavy rain. At least two homeowners said they got about 4 feet of water in their basements. “And that’s a sign of the blockage," Mark Anderson said. He reached out 7 News Detroit for a problem he said he’s been dealing with for about two decades but never this bad. Before the water rose several feet, he said he called the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department for help.
