The trustee overseeing the bankruptcy of Victoria mortgage broker Greg Martel plans to reach out to investors in the next month to arrange the return of $71 million in fraudulent payments made from Martel’s massive Ponzi scheme. Madame Justice Shelley Fitzpatrick last week signed off on a court order that allows PricewaterhouseCoopers to go after the money the trustee claims was fraudulently paid out to 561 investors.

British Columbia's Civil Resolution Tribunal says a note left on a car about a "dinged" door was a binding contract to pay repair costs. The decision says lawyer Carly Peddle was being dropped off in a parking lot at an event in September 2023, when she dented fellow lawyer Richard Brooks' door. She left a note saying "I dinged your back passenger door," adding she was "happy to pay" and leaving her phone number.

The Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization stated in a May 21 notice it will hold a hearing on July 15 for the allegations it has lodged against former dealer Haimeng Wang.
