The stretch of the Alaska Highway near Fort Nelson, B.C., that closed Monday due to a nearby wildfire has reopened to single lane traffic. Drive BC announced the update in a post around 9:30 p.m., saying the status could change quickly depending on wildfire activity. The BC Wildfire Service says the blaze is about 26 square kilometres in size and is burning out of control about 10 kilometres northeast of Summit Lake.

The adult male grizzly has a yellow ear tag and was first spotted in Shehtekwahn Bay, across from Powell River, on May 25. The qathet Regional District said the bear swam to Texada on May 24 or 25 after spending about a week in the Powell River area.

The British Columbia government is commissioning an independent review of the province's home-share program, months after an inquest into the starvation death of a woman with Down syndrome in a Port Coquitlam share home. A statement from the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction says the review will assess safety in home-sharing arrangements, standards that promote quality of life, as well as accountability and oversight measures.

Kelowna residents battling prostate cancer will have new treatment options and improved diagnostics as the province expands “cutting-edge” medical imaging and a new precision cancer treatment that delivers radiation directly to cancer cells. “This year, an estimated 4,165 people in British Columbia will be diagnosed with prostate cancer," said Josie Osborne, Minister of Health, in a news release.
