Moran Stella Yanai was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, while attending Israel’s Nova music festival and says she is still coming to terms with what happened. “Mentally, you know, half of my heart is trying to understand what is the new reality of me,”said Yani. Yani was a part of the over 25 hostages who were taken during the attack that left roughly 1,200 people dead.

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Dupont Circle Park reopened early Sunday night as it remained closed following Saturday night’s violence during WorldPride weekend. “It’s disappointing,” Raven Lee of Rockville, Md., said. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said two boys were stabbed around 7 p.m. because they got into a fight. MPD said the boys were being treated at the hospital while investigators continue to search for two suspects.

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — There was plenty of pride to be found along 14th Street NW Saturday, as thousands of people turned out for the World Pride Parade. “I hope it brings everyone together more. And, you know, I hope the future is brighter for the LGBTQ community,” said Kiki Jomo, of Capitol Hill, who has attended D.C.’s Pride Parade for the last five years. More people made their way along the parade route than in the past, as the District hosts World Pride for the first time.

(DC News Now) — There’s a lot of pride at the Long Bridge Aquatic and Fitness Center in preparation to host the inaugural Capital Cup around the DMV. “It’s very exciting just because we’re usually not having local meets here,” said Vercera Harvey-White, part of the DC Synchronasters, competing in synchronized and artistic swimming. She’s been part of the sport, which is sink or swim, since 1993. “You have to have, like, strength. You have to have flexibility.” Harvey-White explained.
