ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A Roanoke man pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to planning a robbery that led to the death of a drug supplier, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). The DOJ says Garrett Williams, 22, was charged with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act Robbery. Court documents say another man involved, Joseph Walker, pleaded guilty in January to one count of Hobbs Act Robbery and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

VIRGINIA (WDBJ) - As the winter weather continues to hit many of our hometowns, public safety officials are urging drivers to be cautious due to falling trees. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to drivers, “Please be aware that trees are still coming down throughout the county, which may block roads unexpectedly.

VIRGINIA (WDBJ) - Virginia State Police (VSP) is encouraging drivers to stay off the roads as our region continues to see winter weather conditions. According to VSP, there have been 849 crashes statewide with 87 reported injuries as of 7 a.m. Wednesday. Police say in the Appomattox Division (Staunton, Charlottesville, Lynchburg, South Boston) there were 108 crashes with seven reported injuries.

VIRGINIA (WDBJ) - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is now accepting digital Virginia IDs at airport security checkpoints, the TSA announced Tuesday. According to the TSA, travelers can download the Virginia Mobile ID (mID) app and scan their phone in replacement of a physical ID. To download the app, users must have a valid Virginia drivers license or ID card.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A man died in a crash Saturday in Franklin County, according to Virginia State Police. Police say officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash at 12:25 a.m. on Route 220 at the intersection with Southside Drive. According to police, the driver of a Jeep Liberty ran off the right side of the road and overturned, striking a tree. The driver was identified as Erick Keith Custis, 52, of Charleston, SC. who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Savannah Renee Adams is accused of Tiffany Dunford’s death. Dunford was sitting on an outdoor couch On Nov. 17 when someone drove up, quickly doused her with gasoline, set her on fire and drove off, according to her family. She died at the hospital the next day. Dunford and Adams knew each other, according to Dunford’s family.

According to Caesars Virginia, guests can expect a 587,000-square-foot casino resort with over 90,000 square feet of gaming space, with nearly 1,500 slots, 79 table games, 48 electronic table games, a poker room, and Caesars Sportsbook.
