    PHOENIX — The City of Apache Junction and Salt River Project (SRP) are teaming to remove/replace trees that are positioned too close to power lines. SRP’s “Right Tree, Right Place” program addresses these trees because they are considered a threat to critical infrastructure. Starting Monday (Jan. 6), SRP will begin removing trees adjacent to Apache Junction’s city hall complex along E. Superstition Boulevard and N. Idaho Road. It will also remove some trees on W.

    PHOENIX  — Police are investigating a home invasion in south Phoenix that resulted in the death of a suspect. On Dec. 16, police responded to a report of a shooting in a neighborhood near the intersection of Southern and 51st avenues. According to police, multiple suspects forced their way into a home there and then exchanged gunfire with a person within the residence. One of the suspects, Carlos Pardo Espericueta, 28, was shot. He was transported to a nearby hospital and died there on Dec. 27.

    PHOENIX — The House of Creed, a luxury perfume boutique that features original fragrances, is scheduled to open a location in Scottsdale in January. The boutique will be located inside the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall and feature Italian marble, white faux leather lining in drawers, white plaster tiles, brass fluting and walnut paneling that brings a warmth to the overall design. It also will feature a storytelling wall and a small lounge to host appointments and consultations with clients.

    PHOENIX — A federal grand jury on Tuesday indicted a man from Tolleson, charging him with, among other things, making death threats against President-elect Donald Trump. Per the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona, the complaint alleges that Manuel Tamayo-Torres threatened to kill Trump on a social media post and that he also threatened to “do violence” to members of his own family.

    PHOENIX — According to an economic impact study, WestWorld, Scottsdale’s largest indoor/outdoor events venue, contributed $163.6 million to Arizona’s gross domestic product. The results of the study show how WestWorld of Scottsdale attracts high-spending visitors to the area.
