    PHOENIX — A new Tempe fire station officially opened over the weekend. Fire Station No. 2 at 3025 S. Hardy Drive was built on the same parcel of land as a 1972 fire station, which only had room for two fire trucks and crew members. Tempe Mayor Corey Woods, several City Councilmembers and fire personnel gathered on Sunday to celebrate its opening with a symbolic cutting of a fire hose rather than a traditional ribbon-cutting.

    PHOENIX – An Arizona business owner pleaded guilty in a federal tax evasion case on Tuesday, authorities said. Philip Kevin Clark, a 61-year-old Yuma resident, is scheduled for sentencing on July 28. He faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for failure to pay employment tax, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona. Clark owns a water company in Yuma.

    PHOENIX — The westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway was closed near Sky Harbor Boulevard for several hours Monday night for a law enforcement situation, authorities said. The Arizona Department of Transportation announced the closure around 6:45 a.m.It’s not clear when the situation cleared up, but ADOT said the freeway was reopened before the Tuesday morning commute. Traffic was diverted to State Route 143 while the westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway was closed.

    Arizona Wildcats wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan was one of 17 prospects to have accepted their invitation to attend the 2025 NFL Draft, the league announced on Monday. McMillan did not participate in any of the 2025 NFL Draft Combine drills but posted a 4.48-second 40-yard dash during a private workout for NFL scouts. The 6-foot-4, 219-pound wide receiver is projected to be taken in the first round, with many mock drafts slotting him in the No. 12-20 range.
