AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Active weather is expected across much of the area late Wednesday. Thunderstorms, some severe, are expected to begin in the NW part of our area and track SE during the evening. Some of the stronger storms will likely produce hail and destructive winds and tornadoes will be a possibility. We are also concerned about lightning and the potential for flooding. The severe weather threat will diminish after midnight as storms track out of our area.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Dave Oliver recently featured the Bushland High School senior project to modernize and refurbish the local Eric Miller Park, but there’s much more to that story. Kids and families now enjoy using the park, which was the intent behind the project. “It makes me feel good, seeing, like, before we did this, seeing no kids play out here at all, and then now seeing them come out here. It just really makes my heart happy,” said Bella Hamilton, Bushland High School senior.

Not only are students learning valuable sewing skills, but their creations are going to bless others in the process. You have probably heard of a good old fashioned quilting bee, where a group of usually ladies and often senior age folks would work together as a group making quilts.

A similar setting is still alive today in Amarillo, but these quilters are in the sixth grade. They’re gonna go through it. The magic happens in the sewing club on the sixth grade campus of Travis Middle School.

One local girl is using a lemonade stand to raise funds — not for herself, but to bless and support others. 3-year-old Raygan Keplinger has been crowned princess.
