Farmland in northwest Iowa sold for $22,600 per acre, with a per-tillable acre price of $23,780, and a CSR2 value of $300 per point. The farm consisted of 39.7 gross acres, with 37.73 tillable acres featuring high-quality soil types. The auction was conducted on-site, with full possession granted at closing, making the land immediately available for the 2025 crop year.

But before hatching this plan, the city should have talked to the people who paid for the parking lots — the downtown property owners. For 50 years, the owners of 216 parcels of downtown real estate have been paying an annual assessment so that their customers and employees would have a place to park.

Take look at three farmland transactions that transpired in October 2024. Located about 20 miles northeast of Omaha, Nebraska, 90.71 acres sold via timed online auction. This farm consisted of 82.41 Farm Service Agency cropland acres, holding a Corn Suitability Rating Index (CSR2) value of 91.1, well above the Pottawattamie County average of 68.4. The auction concluded at a final sale price of $17,900 per acre or $216 per CSR2 point.

Claiming it’s a power grab is about the only thing Sheriff Christina Corpus is saying in response to this attempt to remove her from office for misconduct. Measure A isn’t a power grab because you, the voter, have control over whether you want to vote “yes” or “no.” And Measure A is temporary; it expires in 2028.
