In Burlingame’s Broadway area, a sip-and-stroll wine walk May 14 will allow residents to meet over 30 local business owners, interact with their neighbors and enjoy wine and appetizers, organizers said. Thirty-four local businesses will be participating and pouring different wines for the event, which will be held 6-8 p.m., Susan Baker, president and CEO of the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce, said.

After a previous stretch of contention on the City Council, San Mateo may start revoking some privileges for councilmembers and commissioners who fail to adhere to the city’s code of conduct. The move is largely in response to several previous years of tense council relations over mayoral rotation and also housing and infrastructure policy. An initiative to update the city’s code of conduct followed.

San Mateo has received several development proposals over the last month, highlighting the city’s influx of development activity since it passed Measure T in November. The city’s development pipeline now stands at roughly 4,000 units, more than half the city’s state-mandated housing goals, or Regional Housing Needs Allocation, which stipulates the city must plan for at least 7,015 housing units between 2023-31.

State and local lawmakers are raising concerns around road conditions near the summit of State Route 92, which a May 12 press release labeled as hazardous due to a naturally-occurring spring causing wet pavement. State Sen. Josh Becker, D-Menlo Park, Assemblymember Marc Berman, D-Palo Alto, and San Mateo County Supervisor Ray Mueller — who represents the coastside — called on the California Department of Transportation to take action.
