READING, Pa. – The Berks County Commissioners voted Thursday morning to authorize annual contracts for career building workforce training. A $249,997 award was made to the Berks Latino Workforce Development Corp. and a $250,000 award was made to Connections Work. The awards are for the fiscal year beginning July 1. An official from Connections Work said they offer an apprenticeship program in the construction trades for individuals within the justice system.

EASTON, Pa. – The public will be invited to learn about and comment on the proposed project to construct a new Easton Area High School, the district's superintendent said Tuesday night. During the school board's standing committee meeting, Superintendent Tracy A. Piazza announced dates for three special ad hoc committee meetings where the public is invited to participate.

READING, Pa. – During its Committee of the Whole meeting Monday night, Reading City Council heard an update presentation from Simone Collins Landscape Architecture, Norristown, on transit-oriented development, or TOD, for downtown Reading. The firm was retained by the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance in 2023 with a grant it received from the Department of Community and Economic Development.

READING, Pa. – The Berks County Board of Elections voted Thursday to receive the unofficial computation and canvassing of votes cast at the May 20, 2025 municipal primary. The vote for the receipt of the unofficial results will begin the required five-day public inspection period at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 30. The action also authorizes the board’s execution of the preliminary certification of the computation of election results to the Department of State.

READING, Pa. –Berks County Commissioner Michael S. Rivera alerted the public Thursday morning to a phone scam with callers claiming they are from the Berks County Sheriff’s Office. Rivera said District Attorney John Adams asked him to get the word out to warn residents about the phone calls. “People are getting calls saying it's from the Sheriff's Department,” Rivera said.
