READING, Pa. – Reading City Council voted Monday night to approve removing the old Schlegel Park tennis courts and replacing them with a dog park. The project will be the first dog park within the city limits. The installation of the park will cost about $150,593. Councilmember Vanessa Campos, the District 1 council representative, questioned what the thought process was for a dog park and whether other options were considered.

READING, Pa. – During its Committee of the Whole meeting Monday night, Reading City Council learned that for the first time in 23 years, the charter board for the city is vacant. The final two members of the board — Leidy Ramos and Susan Williams —submitted their resignations, which were later accepted at the regular council meeting. Council solicitor Michael Gombar said appointments to the five-member board come through the mayor and then to council for approval.

Leinbach shared that he just received the latest map looking at population growth in Pennsylvania from 2020 through 2024. Leinbach reported that Berks County has seen a 2.4% increase in population growth over those last four years.
