Huntsville Fire urges fireworks safely this holiday weekend

North Alabama will celebrate Memorial Day this weekend and that, of course, is sure to include fireworks. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), an estimated 10,200 Americans were treated in emergency departments for fireworks-related injuries. Huntsville Fire and Rescue advises you to be safe when using fireworks. Never let young children play or ignite fireworks, that includes sparklers. Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose near you in case a fire starts.

The Pastor Emeritus of First Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville, Reverend Dr. Julius Richard Scruggs, passed away Wednesday morning.
