The lower Saluda River winds through greater Columbia like a green-gray ribbon, flowing from the Lake Murray dam to its confluence with the Broad. At one point it becomes a rare urban whitewater, jouncing over rocks and ledges beneath old hardwood trees draped in Spanish moss.
