Superlatives come easily when you're in eastern Utah. For five days, my wife and I hiked around the region near Moab, and our conversation was mostly an endless stream of "oohs" and "aahs" and "oh my gods."The first day out, we saw the longest arch in North America at Arches National Park. At 306 feet, Landscape Arch stretches so far and is so thin in parts, you stand there waiting for it to snap. Nearby is the deepest-red red rock I've ever seen.

A month ago we reported on the end of the Kitchen Shoppe after 20 years of trading.
