Ash Barky stole our hearts as a puppy on Muster Dogs, and now Queensland's famous working dog is tackling a new job. The adorable border collie, who appeared with North Burnett grazier Cilla Pershouse in season two of the hit TV series, has become a mum, welcoming two male puppies last week. Ash — named after fellow Queensland icon, tennis champion Ash Barty — and Cilla appeared on Muster Dogs earlier this year, a program that follows puppies as they learn what it takes to become working dogs.

Drivers are hopeful headaches and honking horns on a notoriously busy stretch of the Bruce Highway will be a thing of the past as the long-awaited Gympie Bypass offers a "magic run". The new 26-kilometre, four-lane section of highway opened without fanfare on Tuesday night, providing a seamless path from Woondum to Curra and bypassing the city of Gympie, 175 kilometres north of Brisbane. It means motorists can now avoid 53 intersections, including nine sets of traffic lights.

Truck drivers may be forced to up-end their schedules to avoid night-time travel in response to serious crashes on the Bruce Highway, the Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) warns. The southbound lane of the Bruce Highway is closed at Colosseum, near Miriam Vale in central Queensland, after a truck rollover in the early hours of this morning. A man in his 20s was taken to Gladstone Hospital in a stable condition with arm and leg injuries.
