Shelby Fitzackerly placed in third in a national skills competition (Image: NCCG) A construction apprentice from Nelson has impressed after placing third in a national competition assessing multi-trade skills. Shelby Fitzackerly, who combines study at Accrington and Rossendale College with a painting and decorating apprenticeship with Spain Building and Maintenance in Nelson, took part in the SkillBuild contest after winning a regional heat.

Pendle Wavelengths could be expanding A leisure trust has submitted plans to build a new dance studio at a local authority sports centre. Pendle Leisure Trust wants to build the extension at Pendle Wavelengths sports centre in Chapel Street, Nelson. The extension would be built on existing car parking space, with an external plant compound also installed to serve the extension.
