    A 20-year-old has admitted causing the death of a Yorkshire pensioner by his dangerous driving in a hit and run on the A57 last month. Graham Slinn, aged 81, died when he was hit by a VW Golf as he cycled down the A57 on April 4. Emergency services attended and treated Mr Slinn but despite their best efforts he died at the scene. Police arrested Cain Byrne, from Chesterfield, who was found to be behind the wheel of the vehicle, which drove off after hitting Mr Slinn.

Olympus Way, near Hoyland, in Barnsley, was closed for a period of time while emergency services dealt with the incident, with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance on the scene, after the collision between a car and a motorbike.

    Figures show Sheffield’s roads are getting safer - but some roads have better records than others. We have looked at figures for the number of deaths on Sheffield’s roads over a five year period, and they show the stretches of carriageway in the city with the worst record for tragic incidents. We looked at the figures carried on the website crashmap, which maps crashes, using official data published by the Department for Transport which is based on records submitted to them by police forces.
