    The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum has reopened after a $60.5 million renovation that has propelled it into the highest echelons of automotive museums. The museum has hit the headlines this year with the sales of 11 of its non-Indianapolis cars, including the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196R Streamliner, which sold for €51,155,000 in Germany and the 1964 Le Mans-winning Ferrari 250 LM, which sold for €34,880,000 in France.

    President Trump’s sweeping 25% tariff on cars and car parts imported into the US are likely to effect classic cars, whether intentionally or not, unless the Executive Order is amended to exclude them. The US Customs and Border Protection agency currently applies a 2.5% tariff to imported passenger cars, regardless of whether they’re new or classic. Unless specific exemptions are made, it’s likely that the tariff will automatically convert to the new 25% rate for both new and classic cars.

    California’s fast-growing Velocity Invitational event, which takes place at Sonoma Raceway, north of San Francisco, has moved from its previous October date on June 6-8. This will be the sixth running of the event, which combines significant historic race cars with extreme hypercars, celebrities and the best of wine country’s food and beverages. We were last there in 2023, and were extremely impressed, as you can read here.

    When the huge UK classic car sales and restoration company JD Classics went out of business in 2018, with founder Derek Hood’s accused (and later found guilty) of fraud, it sent shockwaves through the business. Now it’s happened again, to the proprietors who took it over in 2018. Mo Nicoconsari (known as Nico Consari) and Ali Khansari, as ZCC Investments initially launched the business under the new name of Woodham Mortimer, with former Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales continuing as CEO.

    The central feature of the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed will celebrate 60 years of design and engineering by Professor Gordon Murray CBE. The famous sculpture created each year by Gerry Judah in front of Goodwood House will showcase Murray’s six decades of innovative design, right up to the present day cars from Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA).

News has just broken that the Goodwood Festival of Speed has got the go-ahead from the UK Government to run as a pilot event. All attendees must have received a double dose of vaccine at least 14 days before the event or proof of a Negative Lateral Flow Test. @fosgoodwood https://t.co/5DIGqh8kGW
