Mr Albanese was asked at a press conference on Saturday whether he was becoming confident about his election fortunes amid positive polling for the government. "Not at all. A grandmother killed when a volley of gunshots was fired into a south-west Sydney home was likely the unintended victim of a "warning shot" aimed at someone else living there, police suspect. Emergency crews were called to Ambarvale, near Campbelltown, after reports a woman had been shot at a Dickens Road home on Monday about 11pm. Officers found a 65-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the leg. Paramedics treated her inside the home but she could not be saved and died in the living room.

The Greens have been condemned and urged to cancel a dance party to raise election funds scheduled on the night of Anzac Day in Western Australia. The Greens WA posted to Instagram last week promoting the event and calling on supporters to attend the rave to be held at Perth bar and tattoo parlour Old Habits. "The federal election is right around the corner. Join us for a night when the dancefloor becomes the platform for radical change," the post read on an official Greens page.

A body has been found following a suspicious house fire in Queensland. Emergency services were called to a property in Geham, in the Toowoomba region, following reports a home was in flames on Tuesday just before 3am. Firefighters arrived to find the house "fully engulfed and extensively damaged". The fire was extinguished and a crime scene declared. Investigators could not immediately go inside the home due to safety concerns. Queensland Police confirmed just before 8am a body had been found.

Tasmanian voters have overwhelmingly thrown their support behind Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, reflecting the latest poll suggesting a Labor majority government. Labor has pushed out its two-party preferred lead to 53.5 per cent, up 2.5 points, with just under three weeks until the country heads to the polls, according to a Resolve poll. The Coalition has gone from 50 per cent down to 46.5 per cent in the space of a month.
