Licking County prosecutors have charged the son of a New Albany megachurch's founders with two counts first-degree felony rape. Detectives arrested Gary Thomas "Tom" Keesee Jr., 36, on April 18 at his Johnstown home, according to a news release from the Licking County Sheriff's Office. A Knox County grand jury will hear the case April 21 and will consider more charges.

The Delaware County District Library is asking voters to support a tax hike for its five-branch system to help improve access and services and to upgrade its buildings. Voters will decide May 6 on a new 15-year, 1-mill property tax levy that would generate about $10.5 million annually and cost $35 per $100,000 of property valuation set by each county auditor. The library district includes all of Delaware County and small portions of neighboring Franklin, Marion, Morrow and Union counties.

A 61-year-old dental patient who died after he could not be awakened by a Grove City dentist had cardiovascular disease and a type of atrial fibrillation that causes intermittent and sudden irregular heart activity, according to the Franklin County Coroner. A full autopsy was never conducted, in the case. Instead a toxicology analysis was conducted. There is no mention in the coroner findings released Monday of Michael Beesler being seen by a dentist.

Ohio has allocated $500,000 to study a proposed bypass for U.S. Route 23 in Delaware County. The bypass would connect Route 23 to Interstate 71, diverting traffic around a heavily congested 23-mile stretch. The study will examine five potential routes and determine whether ODOT or the turnpike commission is best suited for construction.
