Rossford City Council has taken the first step toward seeking a renewal levy that currently brings in more than $400,000 a year for city services. At the June 9 meeting, council approved a resolution, as an emergency, asking the county auditor to certify the total current tax valuation of the city and the amount of revenue generated by the millage. Allyson Murray, city administrator, said the five-year, 3.5-mill levy goes into the general fund, and is used for police, fire, and public works.

BOWLING GREEN — No matter how the next state budget shakes out in two weeks, Ohio libraries will see less funding, according to the Wood County District Public Library director. At Monday’s board meeting, Michael Penrod said he is preparing for flat, or even reduced funding, in the next state budget, which will be finished next month. Library officials across the state have been lobbying for funding, citing how free books, digital items, and programs benefit communities, he said.

Northwood City Council is considering contracting with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office for emergency dispatching service and eliminating five dispatchers who work for the city. At Thursday’s meeting, council had the first reading on a four-year agreement. The cost would be $125,199 for this year. Other fees are $24,737 for start-up fees and expenses, and vendor fees of $4,004. The annual cost going forward would be $204,000.
