LOUISVILLE, Ky. — We are just over two weeks away from the 151st runnings of the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby. Oaks Day is Friday, May 2, and the Derby is Saturday, May 3. The top 18 horses, according to their points, earn a spot in the starting gate for the Run for the Roses. For the Kentucky Oaks, it’s the top 14 point earners in the gate. The Kentucky Derby features three-year-olds and they run 1 1/4 miles. The Oaks features three-year-old fillies, but is only 1 1/8 miles long.
