Each year, Central Texas gardeners face eminent heat, drought, floods or freezes, sometimes all four. The following story ran July 11, 2022, just months after a major freeze, and just before our plants faced another round of extreme heat and drought. Just a few months ago, a deep freeze struck some Austin gardens to their very roots. Now those precious plants are dealing with historic heat and the threat of longterm drought.

The UT graduation display — visible from Waterloo Park in downtown Austin — happened about 15 minutes after show opener, Katie Gavin, capped a wistful, countrified set by reminding the moms in the audience that their queer kids would be OK, and minutes before singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus took the stage.

Tyler, the Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA tour landed at Austin’s Moody Center for a two-night run on Saturday night. In a set that clocked in at just over 90 mins, the rapper/singer/production mastermind launched cupid strikes, flexed trickster magic, wore a mask, bore his heart, danced, raged, rapped, played with fire, and shouted out the flagship Whole Foods in downtown Austin. Now THIS is a movie I want to see.

After a month of going back and forth and over $700 in fees, the plumber tells me we need a new water heater, but we should get a second opinion because clearly we can't trust his company any more. FML.
