JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville International Airport leaders say it is still too early to determine what will happen to the south end of the Hourly Parking Garage after a fire on May 16 that burned about 50 cars. Michael Stewart, VP of External Affairs with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, said the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) is treating the third and fourth floors of the garage as a crime scene until they can determine the cause of the fire.

Some Jacksonville City Council leaders are calling on Visit Jacksonville, the city’s official tour guide agency, to be more inclusive in their selection of attractions. Councilman Jimmy Peluso had a meeting alongside Councilman Dr. Rahman Johnson and Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman to address what the members call gaps in historical and cultural sites featured in brochures. Visit Jacksonville CEO, Michael Corrigan, was in attendance.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On May 24th, Jacksonville’s pre-season outdoor pool season got its official start. Phillip Perry with the City of Jacksonville says this year, 30 of the city’s 33 outdoor pools will open for the summer season. In 2023, lifeguard shortages forced some pools to remain closed and others to operate on limited hours. But Perry says that has changed since Mayor Donna Deegan was sworn in.
