    GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Less than 48 hours after being accused of demanding $1 million from a Garner man and then kidnapping his wife and the couple's 11-month-old daughter, two of the three suspects were in court. Paola Duran Duran, 25, and her brother Miguel Angel Duran Duran, 23, were arrested Tuesday evening. Each faces two felony counts of first-degree kidnapping and one felony count of second-degree kidnapping.

    GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two people arrested Tuesday in the Garner kidnapping of a woman and her baby made their first court appearances on Wednesday. Paola Duran Duran, 25, and her brother Miguel Angel Duran Duran, 23, each face two felony counts of first-degree kidnapping and one felony count of second-degree kidnapping. Both appeared in Wake County via video monitor from the jail.

According to her father, the babysitter's son brought a firearm from his father's house to the home. At some point, she was accidentally shot and killed. "The most upsetting for us is, this was preventable," said Father Fon Dockery. "It's not only upsetting. But it is also, in turn, part of the same fuel we use to advocate and fight.

An ABC11 crew at the scene witnessed campus police officers taking down several people and detaining them. An NCCU spokesperson said the gathering was "an unauthorized rally" and said at least three of the people detained were not affiliated with the university.
