    Jury selection begins Monday in the murder trial for Christopher McCullough, who is accused of beating his mother to death in front of his 2-year-old son. McCullough is accused of attacking his parents at their Raleigh home on Ingate Way on Aug. 6, 2023. Investigators said he beat his parents until they were unconscious right in front of his young child. He then allegedly kidnapped the child and drove away. Mary McCullough, his 75-year-old mother, died from her injuries after the attack.

    For the first time, Raleigh Rescue Mission is delivering Easter meals to families in need. The group plans to hand out more than 1,600 meals Friday morning. Raleigh Rescue Mission Volunteer Engagement Manager said the group added the extra delivery day because more families need help. "In 2022, when I joined the team, we were delivering at Thanksgiving and Christmas about 1,400 meals. In this past holiday season, the need has increased to well over 1,600," Tuttle said.
