A vacant Union Street unit could soon become home to Aberdeen’s first ever “noodle library”. The “unique and modern” concept is popular in places like Korea and Japan, with more and more noodle cafes popping up in cities across the world. The Springfield Road venue had been demolished for about three years at that point.

A Glaswegian businessman wants to turn a former Union Street gallery into a new cafe – just a few weeks after the arts venue closed due to “lack of footfall”. Enid Hutt Gallery shut in March after more than a decade on the city’s high street. At the time, director Clarke Hutt said ceasing trade in Aberdeen was suffering a “death by 1,000 cuts” and that they will be now focusing their effort on their Fife venue.
