BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Shootings and other violent crimes in Baton Rouge are issues that continue to come up. “If you can control the number of bullets that’s flying in your city, of course you’re going to have better success with the number of people that are hurt,” said City Assistant Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Public Safety Jeff LeDuff. The former Baton Rouge police chief is hoping to help improve crime numbers in Baton Rouge by looking east to New Orleans.

Share BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Friends and family call him Mr. President. At 27 years old, Anthony Kenney will be the youngest person ever elected to the East Baton Rouge Metro Council. In an exclusive interview, the Councilman-Elect tells WAFB he’s been preparing for this thanks to one of his local heroes. Anthony Kenney said he graduated from Scotlandville Magnet High School in 2015. He said his election win is still surreal. He will now represent the community he grew up in in City Hall.

His grandmother said it feels like a hole is in her heart, but she forgives her grandson’s killer. Last Wednesday, Erica Rayford got the phone call that would change her family’s lives. “She was telling me that he was shot and screaming, telling me to get there,” Rayford said.
