LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — It has been six-and-a-half years since the city of Lockport was granted $10 million from the state to revitalize its downtown, and now some of those projects are completed. Nine projects received more than $200,000 from the state through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative, so where is that money now? Well, some of those projects just wrapped up.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Dyngus Day celebrations have started early at Pubski Pub in Cheektowaga. Dozens came out for ‘Pre-Dyngus Day,’ because they couldn’t wait any longer. No need to worry, you haven’t missed Dyngus Day yet. These eager enthusiasts just couldn’t hold their excitement for another day. “Pre-Dyngus Day opens up the Polka celebration for Dyngus Day, gets everybody out of the house, gets them warmed up for Dyngus Day,” Pubski Pub owner Matthew Burdzy said.

FREDONIA, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Village of Fredonia is considering a 65% property tax hike. Village trustees tell 7 News, “The only other option is to give up services.”According to village trustee Jon Espersen, that tax increase would cost residents an additional “$550 or so per household per pay period.”“Inflation went up 35% over a 5-year period. The village didn’t raise taxes,” Espersen said.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Jett’s Bagels is quickly becoming a Broadway Market favorite. The shop relocated from East Aurora and rebranded in honor of the owners’ late son, Jett Hamann, who was killed after being hit by a train. “I think [Jett] would have loved it. This was our plan. We loved cooking together,” Jett's dad and Jett’s Bagels co-owner Dejon Hamann said.

(WKBW) — Internal documents obtained by the Scripps News Group suggest that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) may be preparing to cut more than 20% of its workforce over the next two years. These plans, outline a three-phase strategy that could result in the cuts of up to 80,000 jobs by the end of 2025.
