    The Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony to honor the newly named Morristown Nissan which is now under new ownership. Joining the chamber was Morristown Nissan staff, elected officials and community supporters. As the ribbon cutting ceremony kicked off, Hamblen County Mayor Bill Brittain expressed his excitement for the new ownership. “I am excited about what’s going on here at Morristown Nissan,” he said.

    The Morristown-Hamblen Library has several events planned for the month of December for all ages. To kick off the month, on Saturday Dec. 2nd from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be the Friends of the Library Christmas Book Sale. The sale is aimed to help aid in costs that come with the many programs the library provides. There will be a variety of books, magazines, movies, records, CDs, puzzles, games, and audio books for all ages for sale.

    The Hamblen County School System announced Dr. Jaime Greene, Lincoln Heights Middle School principal, is the 2023-2024 Principal of the Year. Greene has dedicated 24 years of her life to education and has served many different roles in Hamblen County Schools. She taught at Lincoln Heights Middle for 7 years before moving on to work for the Hamblen County Department of Education as the district’s instructional Coach/Curriculum Specialist for grades 6-8.

    Christmas time is here in the Lakeway Area evidenced by upcoming holiday themed events. On Saturday Dec. 2 the city of Morristown will host its Christmas on the Market and City Tree Lighting Ceremony. Beginning at 2 p.m. the Christmas Market will begin at Morristown Farmers Market. There will be food trailers, local vendors, and children’s activities. Santa will arrive on the First Fire Truck and children will be able to take pictures with him.

    Wednesday morning KVAT Food City management, and local officials broke ground on its newest Curt’s Ace Hardware store at S Liberty Hill Rd. in Morristown. Last year, Food City joined the Ace Hardware family with the launch of its new line of Curt’s Ace Hardware stores. Before the groundbreaking took place, both city and county mayors conveyed their gratitude for the new location and Food City President and CEO Steve C. Smith shared information about the company.
