After a go-ahead touchdown in the final minutes, the Orange couldn’t stop the Cardinal’s final drive down the field. Stanford kicker Emmet Kenney makes the 39-yard winning field goal as time runs out during Friday’s game against Syracuse in the JMA Wireless Dome. On a day celebrating the 44th Anniversary of the JMA Wireless Dome, the Syracuse Orange had a chance to improve to 3-0 on the season and be ranked. Unfortunately for the Orange, none of that went according to plan.

The Orange, who finished fourth to last in the ACC last year with a 6-7 overall record, came ready for Saturday’s game.

The guard scored 29 points to hold off any potential Virginia Tech comeback in a 84-71 victory. Syracuse men’s basketball defeated Virginia Tech 84-71 on Tuesday night to close out their home schedule. Head coach Adrian Autry’s team backed up Saturday’s win over Notre Dame in style, sprinting out to an eighteen-point lead by the halftime break. While Mike Young’s Hokie side battled back in the second frame, the deficit was far too great to overcome. It was the Judah Mintz show in the Dome.

Syracuse community members gathered on Jan. 21 for largest campus celebration of the late activist. Thousands of people from all walks of life – college students, older city residents, elementary school children – gathered in the JMA Wireless Dome on Sunday to honor the work of Martin Luther King Jr. The 39th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration was the largest campus event honoring the civil rights leader in the country, according to emcee Iris St. Meran, a local broadcast journalist.

As the Syracuse men’s soccer team kicked off their defense of the College Cup Title this year, it has become clear that there has been a significant shift in the mindset and tactics of the team. Throughout the course of the season, the Orange have taken a more conservative and defensive approach each game. “With the team we have, we are best set up to not concede first,” explained Orange head coach Ian McIntyre.

The Orange led 2-0 at halftime before a determined Wake Forest stormed back to secure a point Syracuse women’s soccer played No. 17 Wake Forest to a 2-2 draw at the SU Soccer Stadium on Thursday night. The injury-ridden Orange squad, which had multiple players playing out of position, earned its first ACC point of the season. SU sprung an early surprise on the Demon Deacons, taking advantage of its opportunities to jump out to a 2-0 lead after 45 minutes.

Theoplis Stewart II Syracuse women’s volleyball team started off the season over the weekend with two games in the Syracuse/Cornell Invitational. After a 3-0 loss against Iowa in the first home game of the season on Friday, head coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam called for some improvements. He recommended changes in opponent-run management, avoiding errors and focus.

The Orange were stunned by a late equalizer from the Cardinals at home in first ACC game. Diana Valdivia The No. 4 Syracuse men’s soccer team played a fiery 2-2 draw against No. 7 Louisville Cardinals, a top-10 ACC matchup, in front of a packed hill and an electric Otto’s Army. The Orange held a 2-1 lead for the bulk of the second half but conceded in the 89th minute, ending the game 2-2.
