    EUREKA, Calif. — The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is seeking relatives of human remains discovered in 1998 on Clam Beach near the mouth of Little River. The remains, identified as male, were found on January 21, 1998, and showed signs of erosion from water or sand, according to law enforcement. HCSO said that an anthropologist confirmed the remains were human, and heavy rain prior to the discovery suggested they might originate from an ancient burial site near the beach or nearby rivers.

    A man was stabbed at a motel in Redding early Wednesday morning. Officers with the Redding Police Department (RPD) responded to a report of a stabbing at the Deluxe Inn on North Market Street, across the street from Wienerschnitzel,at around 2:30 a.m. When they arrived, the RPD said officers found the victim, as well as the suspect, identified as Timothy Flanagin, 52, of Redding. Officials said officers detained the suspect on the motel's second -floor balcony.
