It's no April Fools' Joke - the consumer carbon tax has officially been axed Tuesday morning, making for less pain at the pumps. Putting the price of emissions at $0 for Canadians was the first move Prime Minister Mark Carney after being chosen to replace Justin Trudeau last month. Early this morning, Gas Buddy reported prices hovering around 141.9 to 149.1 cents per litres. But, they're expected to go even lower.

April is the first full month of spring, but this year it also means some big tax changes that could greatly impact how much Albertans pay for certain products. Earlier this month, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the consumer carbon tax will be killed as of Tuesday, meaning the price everyday Canadians pay for emissions will be set at $0. With the 17.6 cents/per litre tax being lifted, drivers should notice a pretty sizeable rollback within 24 hours, according to experts.

The Calgary Food Bank has announced a major expansion to better deal with soaring demand and help make things easier for residents in need. The Food Bank announced it is opening up a branch in the Neoma building along 7 Avenue SW in downtown Calgary that will aim to serve up to 200 households each day. CEO Melissa From says the new location will make the services more accessible since it's on the CTrain line and will also allow for a more dignified experience since it will be setup like a store.
