    BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — Five people were taken to a hospital after a house fire in Burlington on Tuesday, according to a Burlington Police Department news release. Arriving firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the front right side of the house and were told everyone inside had evacuated. Firefighters searched the house and didn’t find anyone inside. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes. Hot spots were then put out for another 30 minutes.

    WALKERTOWN, N.C. (WGHP) — Two people were found dead in a Forsyth County home this week, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office news release. On Monday, deputies with the FCSO responded to a home after getting a request for a welfare check. Deputies were told that Alma Laverne Hairston, 56, of Walkertown, had not been heard from since Friday. Deputies forced their way into the home and found two people dead in the primary bedroom.

The school district is also offering the opportunity to pick up five days’ worth of meals at one of two schools.
