    Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are a good bet in the Ozarks beginning Tuesday. The National Weather Service says flooding will be a concern. There’s a marginal to slight risk of severe thunderstorms, mainly Tuesday evening into the late night hours. Ares west of Springfield have a better chance for severe storms on Tuesday. 93-3 and A-M 560 KWTO will keep you up to date on any watches or warnings.

    A few isolated strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon, mainly south of I-44. The National Weather Service says the main hazards are damaging wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail up to the size of quarters. An isolated tornado may occur, but the threat is very low on Thursday.

    Springfield City Council, in a split 5-4 vote, has approved a proposed contract with David Cameron as the next City Manager. Council members Bruce Adib-Yazdi, Brandon Jensen, Monica Horton and Craig Hosmer voted in opposition to the contract. Cameron, who currently serves as city administrator with the city of Republic, says he wants to express his deep appreciation for the trust the mayor, city council, and community has extended to him.

    Severe thunderstorms moved through the Ozarks Monday evening, bringing down trees and power lines. Several tornado warnings were issued northwest of Springfield in parts of Vernon, St. Clair, Webster, and Wright Counties. The tornado warning for Webster and Wright Counties lasted for around 10 minutes before being cancelled because the storm that prompted the warning had weakened below severe limits.

    Damage assessment teams with the National Weather Service have confirmed at least two tornado touchdowns in the Ozarks on Tuesday morning. A weak EF-0 twister touched down in the Nixa area near Eaglecrest Street, with maximum wind speeds of 85 miles per hour. The tornado took part of the roof off and collapsed a wall at an auto repair shop.
