Residents of a condemned apartment complex in College Park will be forced to leave by the end of the day on Saturday, May 31. Just off Godby Road, the city’s Chelsea Gardens apartment complex was condemned over a month ago. Councilmembers in College Park voted to fire and immediately replace the city manager during a city council meeting earlier this week. The city fired Dr. Emmanuel Adediran on Monday. He served as interim city manager before being permanently hired last fall. The council voted 3 to 2, approving Adediran’s termination. The motion to fire him was made by Councilman Roderick Gay. From the dais, Gay listed several alleged reasons for Adediran’s on-the-spot removal.

Tenants of a College Park apartment complex are facing forced removal following the property’s condemnation. Chelsea Gardens is an apartment complex just off Godby Road in College Park. Commissioners in Coweta County have voted to pause data center-related development for nearly six months. The move is meant to give the commission time to sort out zoning ordinances for the warehouse-esque facilities. However, in April, the board approved a conditional land rezoning for an eight-building data center campus known as Project Peach. The massive development will span over two million square feet in an unincorporated part of Coweta.
