    May is National Hamburger Month annually in the United States, and May 28 is National Hamburger Day. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m a huge fan of cheeseburgers and they would be my choice if I had to pick a single food as the only thing I could eat. They have the ability to completely satisfy my tastebuds and given the right preparation, I find their texture to be outstanding.

    Compared to people in many places on Earth, we Americans have it pretty easy. Subsequently, it’s not hard for us to take important things for granted. Think about it: How often do you actually focus on the good and pleasant things in your life (I mean really focus)? Like our access to food, clothing and shelter. Sure, it all might be more expensive than not that long ago, but our ability to take advantage of these things is far greater than billions of others around the world.

    The Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 1-3 State Championships track and field meet took place last Friday and Saturday in Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School. Three girls from Houston competed in the Class 3 events at the meet. There were 16 competitors in each event. Two HHS athletes competed on Friday. Sophomore Summer Seago finished 15th in pole vault, clearing 2.52m (8’-3 ¼”) on her second attempt.
