    Police are investigating a weekend shooting incident at a south-side Thunder Bay apartment complex where residents have spoken out about recent violent incidents. Officers with the city police service responded to the 1000 block of Lincoln Street at 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning for reports of a gun being discharged. The area was secured by police and there were no reports of any injuries. A police presence remained in the area as the investigation continued.

    The bravery of hundreds of people has made a big splash for several community organizations. The PDR Thunder Bay Polar Bear Plunge was held on Sunday at Marina Park and saw more than 430 plungers willingly jump into the icy waters of Lake Superior for a good cause. “It went really well,” said Maggie Ferrence, campaign chair of the Thunder Bay Polar Bear Plunge. “We had the biggest turnout we’ve ever had in the history of polar plunges.

    The trial for two remaining accused in the 2022 death of 29-year-old Adrian Richardson will begin later this month. Jury selection began on Monday at the Thunder Bay Courthouse in the upcoming trial for 24-year-old Telique Ricketts of Toronto on the charge of second-degree murder and 32-year-old Henok Banjaw of Thunder Bay on the charge of manslaughter. Banjaw and Ricketts were among four individuals initially charged with first-degree murder in connection to Richardson's death.
