    THUNDER BAY – Environment Canada has issued another air quality statement for the City of Thunder Bay. The statement comes as smoke from wildfires in central and western Canada moves through Northwestern Ontario. “Wildfire smoke remains over much of northern Ontario. While conditions have improved near the Minnesota border, smoke is expected to spread south over the area again today and tonight. As smoke levels increase, health risks increase. Limit time outdoors.

With runners on first and third, he chose first baseman Jeremy Sheffield to challenge Duluth Huskies southpaw reliever Jackson Smith. Smith got a quick two strikes on the Missouri native, though Manny Alberto, who singled to keep the game the alive, stole second, putting two Thunder Bay runners in scoring position.

    TIMMINS – Police seized $1.26 million in drugs and arrested 22 people, the result of a major drug operation in Timmins and Attawapiskat First Nation. According to a release issued by Nishnawbe Aski Nation Police Service, Project Albion was conducted in conjunction with the Timmins Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police, and it began in September 2024. Police also seized $300,000 in cash.

    SEINE RIVER FIRST NATION – Treat Three Police Service officers have charged two women with assault, after a May 31 knife incident in the Northwestern Ontario community of Seine River First Nation. Police, in a release, said they arrived on scene to find an injured individual who had to be transported to hospital by emergency medical services. The victim was later released.

    THUNDER BAY – The return of a pair of familiar faces worked wonders for the Thunder Bay Border Cats on Tuesday night. Outfielder Ty Hamilton went 2-for-4 at the plate, walked once, scored once, stole a pair of bases and drove in two, keying a five-run first inning that set the stage for Thunder Bay’s 9-4 win over their cross-border rival, the Duluth Huskies (2-7).
