Trees downed, downed powerlines, and tornado sirens, was just a portion of the scene. "I’m just glad it didn’t fall in the road and hit anybody," said resident Merrill Hobaugh. Hobaugh recalls hearing tornado sirens between 3 and 4 p.m. but didn’t realize how severe the storm was until neighbors told him a large oak tree on his property had fallen.

A year later, Clarence Bridwell is heading to Houston in hopes of a life-saving treatment. Alyssa Sterrett told her dad Thursday morning that she was headed to get lunch with a friend. Instead, she came to News 18. Sterrett’s dad, Clarence Bridwell, is only 54 and was diagnosed with terminal stage four kidney cancer on May 30, 2024.
