BlackRock has overhauled its Global Emerging Markets (GEM) division and split it into two distinct teams, Citywire Selector has learned. The changes include the recruitment of two senior investors in Asia and the repositioning of certain portfolio managers, team leaders and strategies. The resulting structure will create an EM & Asia Core Team in Hong Kong and an EM & Frontiers Team based in London, with the division remaining under the overall leadership of emerging markets CIO Belinda Boa.

From a valuation perspective, Anchor Capital believes investors could ‘buy with impunity’ if market turmoil knocks the S&P 500 index below 4,500 points. During a webinar, Anchor chief executive and co-chief investment officer (CIO) Peter Armitage said that if the S&P 500 fell below 5,000, Anchor would buy ‘selective’ shares. ‘You can easily see the market up or down 10% over the course of the next few weeks,’ he added. Former BlueOrchard CEO Philipp Mueller has been appointed chief executive of Zug-based global impact investment firm Blue Earth Capital. He will assume his duties in October. Mueller joined BlueOrchard in 2018 as a managing director and head of investment solutions; he became CEO in 2020. The FTSE 100 added to yesterday’s gains after global markets steadied on positive noises from the White House around trade negotiations, including a deal with the UK.
