BROWNINGTON- As travelers rely more on GPS for directions, incidents of getting lost, or stuck on a road to nowhere continue to increase. Travelers are directed to Class 4 roads and town trails… and the results aren’t good. There’s been several such incidents on Wildwood Lane in Brownington, according to Armand Brunelle. He reported three recent incidents to the Brownington Selectboard on Wednesday. “Three vehicles have gotten stuck; they can’t get through with a car,” Brunelle said.

DERBY- A 20 acre parcel of open fields on Shattuck Hill was the location of a dedication ceremony on Sunday. After two years of diligent fund raising, the parcel was sold by Andy DeLaBruere to the Town of Derby through an intermediary. The view from the property includes several miles of Lake Memphremagog, the islands, Jay Peak, and Owls Head in Canada. Doug and Vivian Spates conceived of the idea to protect the land from development, which they brought to the Derby Select board.

HOLLAND - Last year Maddie Nadeau applied for a New England Dairy grant to offer free ice cream to the public and provide tours of the barns on her family’s farm. The event was so successful that Nadeau and her 4-H partners hosted the second annual event this past Sunday at their farm on the Gore Road in Holland. They spread the word using Facebook, Newport Rocks, and Front Page Forum. From left, Connor, Maddie, and Savannah Stevens enjoy ice complete with sprinkles at the Nadeau Farm in Holland.
