Designer Punit Balana also dived deep into his design universe in creating his store in Delhi, at Ambawatta Complex in Mehrauli. “While working on the design, the goal was clear. The moment someone enters the store, they should feel transported to Rajasthan,” says Balana. Its dusty pink interiors—an ode to the Pink City, Jaipur—act as an understated backdrop for the embellished garments.

What was the brief for dressing the characters from Deli Boys? I joined the crew only from the second episode. The show’s pilot episode was done by Jennifer Rogien, a mentor of mine. Once I got in and read the script, I understood the path that had been taken and started to plan the looks. In the past I have worked on projects that come from a different culture than mine, so I always try to lean into those cultures. I did a lot of research and then married that with American culture.
