JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Johnson City crews are working to add a pop of color and increase wildlife near West Walnut Street. The project is one of the final steps in the years-long West Walnut renovation process. Johnson City Forester Pat Walding said the city plans on planting around 3,000 shrubs and 15 trees to help community members get a taste of the outdoors. “Everything’s kind of also low maintenance and mature height, maybe three feet at most,” Walding said.

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — Kingsport’s annual Mayor’s Breakfast and a Day of Prayer event at Preaching Christ Church took place Thursday morning. The Kingsport Mayor’s Breakfast has been a tradition since the 2000s, current Mayor Paul Montgomery said. “Today will have about 12 or so prayers from individuals that pray for our country, pray for our community, pray for our state, pray for our schools,” Montgomery said.
