    In partnership with German research institute Fraunhofer, ADR (Aeroporti di Roma) and Enel have launched the Pioneer project (airPort sustaInability secONd lifE battEry stoRage) at Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport. According to the partners, it is the largest energy storage system using hybrid second-life batteries in Italy, and one of the largest in Europe. Pioneer is projected to save 16,000 tons of CO2 emissions over 10 years.

    iGA Istanbul Airport Art Gallery has unveiled its new Solo exhibition series with the official opening of Encounter with Fahrelnissa Zeid. Centered around a 1960 oil painting by the Turkish artist, the show has been designed to offer an intimate look into Zeid’s life and legacy through archival documents, photographs and video. With an estimated value of more than zł5bn (US$1.3bn), it is the company’s largest tender in 2025 so far. The contract is expected to be signed in 2026, and construction completed by the end of 2031.

    Fraport subsidiary Lima Airport Partners (LAP) has opened the new terminal and what it states to be first airport city in South America at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) in Lima, Peru. According to the partners, the new terminal is three times bigger than the outgoing one. By the end of 2025, it will be expanded further to cover 270,000m2, providing enough capacity to receive up to 40 million passengers annually.
