(LEX 18) — Internet connectivity can be an issue in many parts of the Commonwealth. In Somerset, the Center for Rural Development is hoping to change that. The center services 45 counties in rural Kentucky, equating to about 1 million people getting connected. "Why can't our kids in Eastern Kentucky, these rural parts of America, not have what kids in New York City or Los Angeles have? Why is that?" said Richard Taylor, who works on the broadband projects at the center.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — On Saturday, more than 600 peopled attended Noah Tinch's celebration of life at the University of Kentucky's student center. It was standing room only. Tinch died in a fly fishing accident in Colorado on June 12. "You lived, laughed and loved more in your 18 years and 364 days than most people do in a lifetime," said Noah's father Brett Tinch during the service.

WINCHESTER, Ky. (LEX 18) — The city of Winchester was awarded a $22,000 grant this summer to explore improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists along Boone Avenue. "Boone Avenue is a pretty wide street and it's relatively straight so what are some of things we find on a wide and straight street, high speeds," said Planning Director Bob Jeffries.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Juneteenth became a national holiday in 2021, but the history goes back much further than that. At the Lyric Theatre in Lexington, they're hoping to shed light on the history and culture that surrounds the holiday through their Juneteenth programming. The Lyric Theatre first opened in the 1940s as a place for the Black community to gather. Director Christian Adair is encouraging everyone from every walk of life to attend their program Thursday evening.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A University of Kentucky student died in a fly fishing accident in Colorado earlier this week, one day shy of his 19th birthday. "I'm sad that we lost him, but I am so grateful that we had him," said his father Brett Tinch. He described his son as an excellent student, an amazing friend, and a thoughtful person.
