HARRODSBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) — A small family farm in Harrodsburg called MinIsland was severely damaged Wednesday when their barn burned down. Nineteen baby chicks died, however, two peacocks, a pig and her piglets, and forty chickens survived. They also have a donkey named Waffles and a two dozen pigs, including one named Tiger Lily. "It's really sad," said Torey Burns, who runs the farm with her husband and four children.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two organizations have teamed up in Franklin County to get animals stranded in flood waters reunited with their families. The Franklin County Humane Society and the Frankfort Fire and EMS technical rescue team have been working side-by-side for days to rescue more than 60 animals. "They are probably hungry and scared and looking for their owner, their family," said Matthew Marshall with Frankfort Fire.

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Fort Boonesborough State Park has seen better days. Park manager Jack Winburn said the picnic areas, boat ramp, hiking trails, and the actual fort are all closed. The fort is set to reopen April 23, but the campground likely won't open again until October. Winburn said the Kentucky River crested at 35 feet. On a typical day, it's only 13 to 15 feet near the park.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Spring has sprung in the Bluegrass, as Keeneland's Spring Meet kicked off after a three-day weather delay. Donna Vaughn and Russ McLellan are recently engaged and currently visiting Lexington, just in time to catch the Blue Grass Stakes, a qualifier for the Kentucky Derby. “It’s just the excitement, the anticipation of a big race maybe a close finish as well," said McLellan.

POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Happy Hearts Christian Daycare in Clay City is seriously damaged from the multi-day rain event last week. The daycare has 45 kids ages 6 months to 12 years old. Director Melanie Mattingly said they are overwhelmed by the clean up process. Drywall has been torn down and flooring ripped up. "We need to paint, we got carpet to be put down, we need to clean a lot," said Mattingly.
