Essex is set to be hotter than the Algarve in Portugal this weekend with temperatures reaching up to 22C in some places. Parts of the county will be basking in higher temperatures and sunshine, with parts of the county being hotter than Faro in Portugal. The UK will see “classic” spring weather over the coming days, with temperatures of up to 26C and patches of frost overnight, forecasters have said.

A "savage and senseless" teenager from the Essex border who carried out at a zombie knife attack during Notting Hill Carnival has been found guilty of attempted murder. Rumarni Tuitt, 19, of Sutherland Road, Walthamstow was charged on August 29 last year with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He stood trial at the Old Bailey and was convicted on Thursday (May 8).

The parents of a newborn girl who died after just three days said they are "completely broken" by her loss, which could have been avoided if hospital staff "had done their job properly". Dan and Bryony Russo said they are "devastated" after a coroner concluded their daughter would have survived had she been delivered via a cesarean section earlier. Emmy Russo died on January 12 last year after being born on January 9 in Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

A huge inflatables event with bouncy castles and fun rides has been postponed on Monday (May 5) due to high winds. The Mega Inflatables event was due to be held in Promenade Park in Maldon. The event would have included bouncy castles, giant slides, fun runs, activity units, a toddler zone, a magic show, and a mini disco. However, organises confirmed on Monday morning that the event, which was due to begin at 11am, will not go ahead. High winds of up to 36mph have been forecast for Essex today.
