Easter 2025 is upon us and UK supermarkets have changed their hours for the bank holiday weekend. Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Lidl, Morrisons, Aldi, Co-op, and Waitrose have all revised their hours on Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. This year the Easter bank holiday weekend spans April 18 to April 21. Most shops across England and Wales will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 20.

UK supermarkets are preparing for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and have announced their reduced operating hours across the four days between April 18 and April 21. Easter Sunday, which falls on April 20, will see most shops closed across England and Wales. As both Good Friday (April 18) and Easter Monday (April 21) are bank holidays, the vast majority of supermarkets will remain open over those days.

With the Easter Bank Holiday weekend fast approaching, Essex residents will be wondering when their bins will be collected and how the weekend will affect them. Some councils have shared new collection dates for residents as there will be limited to no service on the Bank Holidays themselves. The weekend, which this year falls from Good Friday (April 18) to Easter Monday (April 21) will always result in changes to collections, but some areas will be more affected than others.

An Essex mental health nurse who sent "sexual messages" to a patient with whom she planned a future relationship has been banned from the profession. Rosie Poutney worked at an unnamed hospital in Essex and has been found to have committed misconduct. She will be struck from the nursing register.

An Essex fish and chip shop has been named among the 40 best in the UK. The Clacton-based takeaway has been included in a list from the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) which has released a map that reveals the UK’s nationally recognised top 40 fish and chip takeaways, selected by the National Fish & Chips Awards 2025. A chippy tea at the end of the week is a tradition for many of us and one that is also synonymous with Good Friday.
